“Wait! We are Missing…”

The day was going as planned; the bride and bridesmaids were in their suite getting ready, the groom and gents at the venue hyping the groom up for his big day. The photographers arrived (Delaney Jean Photography and Emily Kristine Photography) at the girls suite. Christmas tree aglow, the girls gathered for some photos in PJs followed by prayer time. The bride revealed herself to her closest companions in her white, lacy dress. Soon after, we all packed up and headed to the venue twenty-five minutes away. Little did we know, one small but essential item was left behind.

The festivities continued at the venue with the first look! The nervous bride relaxed as soon as she saw her groom. With private vows to one another, they pledged their love — this is one of my favorite parts because as a photographer, I usually get to capture this scared moment. Next, up the ladies and gents gathered around the happy couple, laughing and smiling together as the photographers gave them fun prompts. All the while the bride, glowing and beaming in beauty.

It was time for the ceremony. The bride was getting her finishing touches together and then she would be off in processional, down the aisle to wed her groom. But wait. Where was it? Where was that piece of tradition of elegance she was to put in her hair? The veil!! Phone calls were made as the bridesmaids looked around the venue. The veil was back at the girls’ getting ready suite twenty-five minutes away. Mother of the bride made mountains move and got the veil for her daughter. Only a 15 minute delay of ceremony. The crowd stirred while we (photographers included) awaited the grand entrance.

There is always something that goes a little hay-wire on the big day. For me, it was moving my wedding day up a full day. For this bride, it was a veil. What always impresses me about brides is their ability to know what is important to them in the final moments. What always impresses me about the community surrounding the bride is their willingness to make the important things happen. If you are part of someone’s wedding day, make the details that matter to them, matter to you.
